Training to achieve AOAC Outdoor Foundation Competent status, which opens greater opportunity to take part in Club outdoor climbing events and is a stepping stone to becoming an outdoor second competent climber. The training will take place alongside the 6pm Sport Thursday evening session .
A good level of experienced indoor climbing is essential, and you should have the ITRC (Indoor Top Rope Competent) or ILC (Indoor lead competent)
You should have attended at least 3 AOAC beginner climbing sessions or has been assessed to have the following equivalent skills
- Can tie in with a figure eight knot.
- Can confidently and safely belay from below on top rope.
- Communicates using standard climbing calls
- Understands basic climbing wall etiquette
- Can safely catch a fall as belayer
- Can safely take a fall as climber
